Optional: .mod installer for ME3Explorer Mod Maker
This will only replace the Aller's hair mesh, making it compatible with other mods that also edit the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc. You will still need to use the tpf.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Follow the installation instructions HERE
2. Use Gibbed to mod the following hair mesh and textures following this guide: link
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_ PROJessica.HMF_HIR_PROJessica_ MDL
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02. HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff
3. Run the included Texmod or the textures will not display correctly.
Changelog:
07.12.2013: Version 1.1 uploaded. Fixed some clipping and weighting issues. Updated texture to better match default hair textures and be more true to color.

Created with ME3Explorer mesh importer
3dsMax 2012 and the UDK
Thank you Anto for permission to port your hair to ME3.

This is the first time I've seen hair from outside the game imported in, this is amazing work, ELE08! As always, super impressed with your work :D
ReplyDeleteI did have a question btw, do you know if it's possible (or if it's been done) to get Brooks' Alliance Officer hat w/ ponytail working on Femshep?
The one pictured here:
http://images.wikia.com/masseffect/images/e/e8/Brooks_boxshot.png
The second I saw that in the Citadel DLC I was so excited cause I was like "I can't for someone to mod that so my femshep can wear it!" The normal Alliance Officer hat makes Femshep bald which just looks weird. Anywho, if you're ever not busy or looking for something to work on, that would be so cool :D
Thanks :)
DeleteI'm still working on making it look better and animate better, so hopefully a new version coming very soon. Still learning a lot in the process!
I was looking at Brooks' hat-pony mesh today actually. Tentatively, I'm going to say yes that's do-able, by making the ponytail part into hair and having Shep wear the hat. Consider it on the list of things I might try.

DeleteCooooooooooool! I'm super excited about the kind of stuff you, Ottemis, Getorex and others are doing these days. It's going WAY above and beyond the old simple texmodding and most of it I would've said would be impossible even a few months ago! Excited for the direction all this is going :D
DeleteEdit: Tried replying to a reply, didn't realize I couldn't do that, felt dumb and resubmitted, haha
Wow, this is wonderful! Still thinking this is all a dream... Thank you for sharing you stuff and creating this blog!
ReplyDeleteBtw, Brooks ponytail would be awesome...
Haha, me too! Glad you're enjoying it.
DeleteI need some help, I followed all directions but when I open up the modded save file ME3 gets stuck on the loading screen and crashes.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you ran the TOCBinUpdater? That's usually the problem.
DeleteYep, ran it and it said no updates found...
DeleteOkay, there should have been at least one update when you initially installed. I would try loading another save, try modding a save again, and then maybe do a clean install of the mod if nothing else works. Since the mod is working for others, it's hard to pinpoint the exact issue.
DeleteSame problem. Been installing and reinstalling the mod a million times. Every time I get "no updates found". I'm totally out of ideas :S
DeleteI got it to work by manually editing the files, but now texmod won't load any of my .tpf files. :|
DeleteYeah, I keep having the same problem. Ran the TOCBinUpdater twice (just to check). Did a clean install of the mod. Nothing I know works
DeleteOkay, that's a bummer.
DeleteI really don't know why some people are having this issue. I would suggest taking this problem to the ME3Explorer forums to troubleshoot/report the problem if you're inclined, because it sounds like an issue with the program which is out of my hands.
Had the same problem. It just fixed itself (and don't trust me, I'm really not computer savvy ^__^).
DeleteI installed the whole headmorph and went line by line through it. Found You had one additional texture parameter I had not: EYE_Mask (BIOG_Humanoid_MASTER_MTR_R.EYE.HMM_Eye_MASTER_Spec_Stack), copied it into my model and now everything works. Really, that's all I did. Don't know if it will be helpful though
ME TM3 HAS STOPPED WORKING, The program is incompatible..Why? ( i used gibbed editor) thanx :)
ReplyDeleteSorry I have no idea.
DeleteI would go to the Gibbed or ME3Explorer forums for troubleshooting.
no problem..thanx
ReplyDeleteDreams come true. Thank you very much, ELE!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome :)
DeleteI love your texmods btw!
DeleteNah, my stuff is just a slapdash comparing to yours :) But thanks anyway.
DeleteForgive me my importunity, but may I ask you something? Could you, please, write a tutorial how to convert custom hairs to ME3? No need to cover every detail, just in brief.
It's perfectly fine if you can't, though :) I know much about lack of time and such things.
My friend Ottemis is already in the process of writing a fairly detailed tutorial - I'll post a link when it's up!
DeleteTutorial is here: http://ottemods.blogspot.com/2013/07/tutorial-porting-hairstyles-using-3ds.html
DeleteAwesome. Thank you both so so much!
DeleteNo worries <3
DeleteDo these mods work with xbox saves? I don't understand replacing files the .PPC files when I don't have any of those
ReplyDeleteThis is PC only.
DeleteHi ELE, I'm speechless and excited by this hairstyle. I tested it right and it works flawlessly for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful work. I said it already, you're a mod god :-)))
ReplyDeleteAn image can be seen here
http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/2cb5/nrqs24ca3f9vl686g.jpg
Wonderful, she looks great!
DeleteHi Ele! I really want to use both this and the Ashley hair mod, but so far, neither will work. I tried both of them, twice, and each time the save I made in gibbed crashes the game. I'm so disappointed. Do you have any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI'm really not sure, crashing can come from a lot of sources. If you're game loads, and its just the gibbed save that crashes, it sounds like you might have made an error in editing your save.
DeleteMake sure there are no extra spaces or typos in the Head Mesh or Textures - this will cause a crash.
Yeah, my previous saves will work, but not the ones I modded using your hair mesh codes. I already copy and pasted them in word to make sure there were no extra spaces and didn't see any. I just want to make sure that the second code gets pasted into two different places in the texture section, not just one.
DeleteYes, there are 2 entries in textures, highlighted in the linked guide:
Deletehttp://elemods.blogspot.com/2013/06/basics-modding-hair-via-gibbed.html
A small note
DeleteWhen you copy and paste the textures make sure that there is no blank before or after BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02.HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff
Perhaps this could be the fault.
This is what happend to me first and the game crashed. I controlled the textures and delete the blank. After that all was fine.
First of all thank you for your amazing job, I had completely gone mad with you cute hair mod! I’m spamming my blog with screens of my Shepard using it, and she’s sexy as hell! :D
ReplyDeleteI also use to make renders about my bb Shepard and her LI and friends, but now I can no more imagine her with any other hair but this, so I really need to ask you something: would you mind if I use this hair also in my personal renders? Ofc I’d source you (as I’m already doing in all my screenshots!) and I’d use only for my personal pictures.
Please please please! >.<
Of course, go ahead. And thanks :)
DeleteHow do you run the .tpf (I'm assuming that's the texmod) file along with it? I imported the hair, but it is appearing very stringy/low quality in game, and I'm assuming it's because I haven't run the .tpf file.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm new to modding!
Hi! Yes, you need to run the tpf with Texmod.
Deletehttp://elemods.blogspot.com/2013/07/texmod.html
Thank you so much for your quick response. I'm having a problem getting the file name switch to work right, though. Mass Effect 3 shows up in my Binaries\Win32 folder without the .exe file ending -- just MassEffect3. So when I try to rename the files - MassEffect3 as MassEffect3bak.exe and Texmod as MassEffect3.exe, Origin doesn't recognize it correctly and instead just starts to redownload Mass Effect 3 when I launch, instead of launching Texmod. Any advice?
DeleteSounds like you just don't have file extensions showing in Windows. Try renaming them without the .exe
DeleteThank you so much for your help!
Deletegonna be completely honest when I say I'm new to modding. I've done steps one and two and i'm trying to run the tpf file with texmod but it's only showing exe files when I open texmod. I don't really know which file I'm supposed to be using either... All around I'm just lost on the third step.
ReplyDeleteHelp me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope...
Here you go!
DeleteInstruction PDF is at the bottom of the page
http://social.bioware.com/project/8081/#files
I'm really sorry to bother you again, and thank you for responding so quickly the first time, but I don't have mass effect saved in origin for computer health reasons, is there a way to configure the files to look elsewhere for it?
DeleteI can't say for sure w/o doing it myself - but if you're not going through Origin you might be able to bypass the workaround (just skip all the renaming business.) Just pick the MassEffect3.exe file as your target application, where ever you have it saved, and load tpfs like normal.
DeleteSo which tpf file is the hair mod? I did all the other steps and I think that I've loaded the tpf files but the hair appears straight and not very cute at all.
ReplyDeleteIf the hair is straight you didn't install the mod.
DeleteI've done everything step by step but when I get to the part where I run the TPF file it just says "D'oh"? Do you know how I fix this?
ReplyDeleteThis is a known Texmod issue, you probably need to make an exception for it in your anti-virus program. Google for more info.
DeleteMuch appreciated, thank you!
Deleteyour work is simply stunning
ReplyDeleteCan you do this http://www.butterflysims.com./download/bencandy.php?fid=42&id=822 or that http://www.butterflysims.com./download/bencandy.php?fid=42&id=843?
"jealous"
Thanks! I don't take requests unless its something I want to work on for myself.
Deletehello,
ReplyDeleteI have a huge problems with the texmod.
Everytime I try to run it, it either says "Shit Happens, D'oh" or it says
"AWC.dll load failed"
To be honest I do have a cracked Edition from ME 3, so I don't have origins in it, and can run it on my PC without Origins..
but what do I have to do so the Texmods will work?? can you help me there please?? I would love to run those mods??
thank you
I also made an exception on my Anti-Virus program, but to no avail...it still isn't working..I do have 2 different exe...one folder is named "Original Files" and the other Bioware with the exe file...when I click on the original files folder and the exe, the program wants to start, but then the message comes "Do'h"...
DeleteSorry I have no idea. I run Mass Effect 3 through Origin, and I only know how to use Texmod, not troubleshoot it. Good luck!
Deleteok I found the error, needed to run the texmod as Admin..now it works...Yippie!!!!
DeleteIs that face a mod, or just lots of time spent in the character generator?
ReplyDeleteIt's a headmorph, more info in this post: http://elemods.blogspot.com/2013/06/mass-effect-3-femshep-modding-tutorials.html
DeleteImpossible to make in the creator.
So any way to add this without screwing up Allers hair?
ReplyDeleteI have downloaded the mods and running them as the directions says too. But it still doesn't work Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteSorry, there is no way for me to know. The only thing I can say is to try all the troubleshooting tips from the install directions page.
DeleteThank you - But I have done all that and it still doesnt work. Hair looks like a wig still, and jacket is in dress mode. But thank you.
DeleteIs there a certain part in the game where you can apply this mod? I'm at the very beginning of the game where you and anderson drop off the building, I saved that area and tried modding it using that save, after I mod it, when I open the save Mass Effect 3 stops workiing and then I checked the Hair Mesh and the texture parameters in gibbed they are all blank in that save. So I'm guessing you have to progress at a certain time in the game in order for it to work.
ReplyDeletecant get it working no matter what. i have this infinite loading screen problem. me3 explorer finds the update and applies though. i also did it's one time setup as advised in a comment. no .pcc worked for me so far :/
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletedo i need any specific dlc or anything installed, maybe game version must be up to date? or maybe appy any changes to dlc TOC.bins?
DeleteIf anyone is having issues loading .tpf using TexMod, (i.e for this particular mod, the hair looks all stringy and polygon-ey), try disabling the ingame origin overlay (in Parameters) in addition to the usual bypassing instructions ; worked for me.
ReplyDeleteBefore : http://puu.sh/6FTSn/ee4da18705.jpg
After : http://puu.sh/6H7Zy/f094ac7f85.jpg
Now to mod my face so that I don't look like a depressed junkie...
I created save using gibbed and set everything right, but when i start texmod and load pdf file, after i run game and try to load save, game crashes
ReplyDeleteHi Ele , your mods are awesome ! I wonder how my mass effect would be with your mods :D
ReplyDeletebut ...I'm having a problem running your mods correctly ...everything goes fine and I do every step u said but when I load the save , my shepard is invisable and can't move or do anything ... even in squad menu it shows no head !
If you can't fix my problem I'll be happy if you upload your headmorph for me , because they work correctly
